Block Paved Pathway & Doorstep | Stanford-le-Hope

Project Overview

Our team recently completed this stylish block paved pathway and doorstep installation at a property in Stanford-le-Hope, Essex. The customer wanted to replace their old, worn entrance area with something more practical, durable, and visually appealing. We designed a neat and functional layout that perfectly complements the front of the home while improving access to the property.

Before & After:

Before: Before the work began, the front pathway and doorstep were uneven and dated, with no clear edge or defined step leading to the door. The surface had worn over time, making the entrance look untidy and less safe. The homeowner wanted a smarter, more welcoming approach that suited the style of their property.

After: The finished result completely transformed the entrance. The new red and charcoal block paved pathway with matching steps adds both style and function. Clean lines, a crisp border, and a level finish now give the home a polished, modern look with much-improved kerb appeal.

Project Steps:

1. Excavation & Preparation: The existing surface and soil were excavated to the correct depth to allow for a solid foundation.

2. Base Layer Installation: A high-quality Type 1 MOT sub-base was laid and compacted to ensure strength and stability.

3. Edging & Step Formation: Concrete edging kerbs were installed to define the pathway and form the new step area leading to the front door.

4. Sand Bedding: A layer of sharp sand was laid and levelled to create the perfect base for the block paving.

5. Block Paving Installation: The team laid charcoal and red herringbone-style block paving, featuring a contrasting charcoal border for a crisp, modern finish.

6. Jointing & Compacting: Kiln-dried sand was brushed into the joints, and the entire surface was compacted to lock the blocks firmly in place.

7. Finishing Touches: The area was cleaned, edges tidied, and soil backfilled along the sides for a smooth, professional look.

Conclusion:

The new block paved pathway and doorstep not only enhances the front of the property but also provides a safe, non-slip surface for everyday use. The combination of red and charcoal tones adds contrast and depth, blending perfectly with the home’s brickwork. The customer was extremely happy with the transformation – a clean, elegant entrance that will stand the test of time.
